Cleaning fun!

A few weekends ago, I was super excited to start pulling out the deck furniture and some of the kids’ toys that we keep in the basement during the winter.  After spending the winter is a damp basement, they were pretty dirty so I put those kids to work to make cleaning fun!

Cleaning fun

I started by filling the water table with some warm soapy water and gave the kids some small sponges and toothbrushes to clean out the table.

066Amelia quickly figured out what was going on and came over to help.  She LOVES bubbles!

068They continued to wash several of the “outside” toys for the sand turtle and kid sized gardening tools.  Connor decided the slide needed a good scrub down too!

They have so much fun being outside and playing with that water table.  It is constantly being used for water, bubble and mud.

Amelia is at that perfect age where “helping” is fun.  She has great receptive language and constantly amazes us with her ability to understand and follow directions.  Connor needs a bit of convincing to help us, but if I can make it fun and more like “play”. I can usually talk him into helping pick up.

Just go ahead and ignore the date stamp!  After six months we just noticed it was wrong!

  1. I love giving my kids water and bubbles to clean their toys with and they love it too. It’s such a great activity isn’t it?
    Thanks for linking #LetKidsBeKids

  2. That looks like so much fun. Our little ones love water and bubbles. It is so much fun to have them playing while they feel like they are helping too. Thank you for sharing on Artsy Play Wednesday. We hope you will come back each week and share your fun ideas!
