Reese’s Peanut Butter Spread

YUMMY!

I was super excited to receive a jar of Reese’s Peanut Butter Spread from Influenster!  Despite my first inclination to eat the entire jar with a spoon, I restrained myself and shared with my kiddos.

Connor my picky eater, regularly requires lunch from home while in school.  We review the weekly school lunch calendar and I do encourage him to try things I think he might like, often times I know that he will just refuse and spend the day in school hungry. Sending him peanut better and jelly sandwiches in his lunchbox has become our staple.  It is hard to find things that a kindergarten can eat that 1) he can open by himself, 2) doesn’t require refrigeration or 3) doesn’t need to be heated.

A Reese’s Peanut Butter Spread and strawberry jam sandwich was the perfect twist on the classic!  It gave me an opportunity to give him something a little special in his lunch.  He gave it RAVE reviews!

Reese's Peanut Butter Spread

One cold snowy day I also made grilled Reese’s Peanut Butter Spread and banana sandwiches for Amelia and I.  Fortunately she couldn’t finish hers (and this Mama got a few extra bites)! Super yummy but oh how decadent…. with the right bread, this could be dessert!

Reese’s Peanut Butter Spread may find a permanent place on our grocery shopping list!

Product Review: TLC Vox Box from Influenster

I was very excited to receive the TLC Vox Box from Influenster with a really cool selection of goodies to review!  But first – do you all know about Influenster???  Influenster is a really cool collection of product reviews and allows bloggers like myself to try and review different products.  Almost everything I have received has been new to me and my family and is usually geared to being a mom and running a home, because that is what is important to me!  Have a blog and need an invite?  Email me your email to suchamama@gmail.com and let me know you are interested!

TLC Vox Box from Influenster

The first things I grabbed from the box were the Neo to Go from Neosporin and the Puffs to Go, single pack tissues. These were both perfect for a small first aid kit I put together for spending the day at our various vacation spots.

I was also excited about the bar of ivory soap. I love the new packaging and it is just perfect when I am covered the dirt and grime that hot humid summer days can bring.  I may even let the kids microwave it, but not quite yet!

I love trying new cosmetics and anti-aging products.  I have been trying Avon’s Anew Reversalist Express Wrinkle Smoother for a few days now.  It is a translucent balm that will match any skin color.  I have tried applying it a few different ways.  I have found that patting it on – don’t rub, I tried – over my lotion, but under my loose powder gives the best effect. I was also excited to learn that you can order products from Avon.com and they included a 15% off code ANEW15 to share! I always think of having to track down a Avon sales person, but now I realize I can order online!

Also included with the TLC VoxBox was a coupon for Breyers Gelato Indulgences and a Shell Fuel Rewards Card.  Unfortunately I haven’t been able to find the gelato in a store yet – but I will keep looking!  We also don’t have a Shell gas station in either the town I live or work in.  Have I ever mentioned both are REALLY small towns?

It is so much fun to get such a cool package in the mail! Thanks Influenster!

Colgate Optic White Toothbrush + Built-In Whitening Pen Review

As a blogger, I am so excited to be able to participate in product testing programs like Influenster.  Just last week, I received a Colgate Optic White Toothbrush + Built-In Whitening Pen to try and tell you about. I was fortunate enough to receive other Colgate Whitening products in the past and we are a Colgate household. As you can imagine, I was super excited to try their new product, the built in whitening pen.

I have been a fan of the Optic White toothpaste since I first discovered it.  It works great and has a great price.  Not at all out of my price range like some of the other toothpastes on the market. I really liked Optic White tooth brush that came in the previous Vox Box, it was soft and malleable.  The tooth brush that came with the built in whitening pen was a bit large for my mouth, but I have a super teeny tiny mouth so I am sure for most people it is just fine.

The whitening gel is contained in the handle of the brush!  Brilliant – no extra tubes or containers to store in our small bathroom.  And it is so portable.  I can even toss it in my bag and bring it to work.  The gel itself comes out through a small rubber brush that allows you to apply it directly to where you would like to whiten. I am aiming for the “shadowy” areas that other products don’t really get into well.

The gel tastes great, which is not always the case for whitening products and while you notice that it is on your teeth for a few minutes right afterwards, it doesn’t feel weird for long.  I found that using it right before bed or right after my morning coffee gives me the most whitening power.  So far great results.  I am definitely noticing less “shadowy” areas!

Once again, the cost of the Colgate Optic White Toothbrush + Built-In Whitening Pen is much more affordable than other products out there. At 12.99 (at Target!) it seems like a steal compared to other similar brands and products. A definite thumbs up!

Meaningful Beauty Creme de Serum: Product Review

Sometimes when I look in the mirror at night, perhaps while I am just hanging out in the bathroom making sure the kiddos don’t drown in the bathtub, I don’t even recognize the woman who looks back at me.  I have been very fortunate to have a very youthful appearance.  I just look young and always have.  While that meant I got carded well into my 30’s, for the most part I have never much worried about that side of skin care.  But when that woman’s eyes started looking tired,  I jumped at the chance to try a new product from Influenster when I found out it was an anti-aging cream.

I don’t wear a ton of makeup, but I have always moisturized well.  I do prefer a tinted moisturizer like Neutrogena Healthy Skin Glow Sheers.  I was anxious to try something that was different, like the Meaningful Beauty Creme de Serum. I am always anxious though to try new things because I can break out like I am 14 again with the wrong thing!

Meaningful Beauty

I received the product a few weeks ago and really wanted to give it a good test drive before I wrote my review.  First of all, it is beautiful.  Who doesn’t like it when the cream is all swirly like in the bottle!  It smells lovely – very light!  Absolutely silky smooth and just a little bit absorbs nicely! So far so good – no noticeable breakouts (and this was the worst time of the month to test it) and I am hopeful that the dark bags under my eyes are well, a little lighter and less baggy!

However, this is my first serious experiment with anti-aging creams.  And given the price tag, it won’t be my only either.  This line is pretty pricey in my book.  I am grateful to Influenster for the opportunity to try new products and share my experiences.

Now, just to get to that appointment with my hairstylist to cover up that gray!

Lifeway Kefir: Connor’s new favorite breakfast treat!

As I have blogged about many times, Connor is a very picky eater. And is is a little guy so I am always looking for food and ideas to get more calories and nutrients into him. I was very excited to receive the opportunity to try Lifeway Kefir from Influenster.

Lifeway Kefir

Lifeway Kefir

We have tried different yogurt or kid’s supplement drinks before. I have to admit, I didn’t even know what kefir was! According to their website: “A fermented milk product, Lifeway Kefir is similar to drinkable yogurt but far more probiotic. While yogurt contains only two to three strains of “live and active” cultures, Lifeway is packed with a unique blend of 12 probiotic cultures“. However, it looks, tastes and feels a lot like other yogurt smoothie drinks on the market that happen to be a whole bunch more expensive! Kefir is very comparable in calories and nutrients as well.

Connor’s review: It is yummy!

It is not often that we find something healthy that he loves! Thank goodness Amelia is a big fan too.  Connor even wants to try other flavors.  That NEVER happens! It is such a relief to know that he is getting something that is extra good for him.

Right now he has been drinking it straight, or with a little milk to help sucking it through the sippy cup.  I even just add a tablespoon to his regular milk to give it a little boost.  I think it will be perfect in to make the next batch of “mopsicles“. It comes in a large bottle which is way better than those individual sized products when I need to just add a little or can use a whole lot.

I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes. But I will be definitely purchasing it again and again!

High Five for Friday

So glad it is Friday!

Ann’s High Five for Friday!

  1. A really cool skin care company contacted ME about a review and giveaway!  Can’t wait until it arrives!
  2. I took two days off – yesterday and today, to garden and get ready for Amelia’s FIRST birthday party!

Resting up for the big party!

  3. Speaking of gardening…  I have weeded almost everything (the last to finish up this morning) and mulch is almost done.  And I am a wee bit tired!  This is kind of a big deal.  I have never been so on top of things so early.  Let’s hope I can keep it up!

    A "before" pic!

  4. Amelia and Connor are eating the same foods at dinner time.  Well, at least we are offering the same foods.  I don’t think it is quite the end of baby food making.  I do want to keep some fruit and vegetable purees on hand to supplement their favorites.
  5. I was contacted by Colgate Optic White – they loved my blog post/review and wanted to use a quote in their marketing!  I feel like I am a real blogger now!

High Five for Friday

So glad it is Friday!

Ann’s High Five for Friday!

  1. I think I have finally decided on an idea for Miss Amelia’s birthday cake.  I don’t know why I agonize over these things but I do.  It doen’t help that my husband says things like, “we have a pan, bake a cake and put some frosting on it”.  Has the man never seen Pinterest?
  2. My new household box from Influenster arrived! Who knew a girl could get excited about dish soap!

  3. Connor started a new session of gymnastics!  This year he is in a class for preschoolers without parents.  It was his first class at that level while most of the other kids knew what they were doing.  He was so excited and was totally into it, even if he didn’t have a clue what he was doing.  He was too stinkin’ cute!
  4. Classes have ended at my place of employment and “summer” begins after Commencement this weekend.  While I miss the activity and energy that the students bring, we do have much better parking!

  5. More and more stuff is blooming in the garden!
