In my mind, this was the last weekend of the summer. I was in a big hurry to try and do a whole bunch of stuff! Next weekend, Labor Day marks the start of the school year where I work and Connor will start pre-school the week after. Then it seems that the weekends full up fast with work and everything fall. And we still have sooooooo many things left unchecked on our bucket list! Here is my weekend recap!
This was the last weekend that I could go to pick up our farm share. We have one week left but I have to work so Kevin will go alone with the kids. That means my last weekend to pick flowers and fresh herbs.
I have been getting cilantro and dill almost every week for our salads. I have been putting lemon balm in my lemonade lately. I also tried some chocolate mint in some baked goods. Last week I put it in brownies along with some peppermint patties. This week I put just a few tablespoons in some chocolate chip cookies. Sooooo yummy!
We also went blueberry picking one last time last weekend and I wanted to use up those berries quickly since they were so ripe when we picked them. I used this basic ice cream recipe and added blueberries for flavor. So nice and creamy! I also made another blueberry tart, because I can’t have it just once a summer.
I got a little more done around the house this weekend because we had two very nice young ladies come and hangout with the kiddos so that they could both meet the kids and be available as babysitters in the future. It was really nice to have a little extra help during the day so I could do stuff like fold laundry and work on some projects that I normally can’t do because I have four little hands that want to help! I hope to do a little more of this especially to be able to get ready for the holidays. Here is a sneak peak at what I was working on!
So nice to have an extra set of hands to help with kiddos so you can get some housework done!
And they get someone new to play with instead of just tv time. I think I will need to do this more!
What a perfect weekend! I need your recipe for your mint chocolate chip cooks! That’s sounds awesome & brownies with peppermint patties! Great idea have to try that! Thank you so much for sharing & linking up at Thank You Honey’s Whatever Wednesday Party!!

Thanks – super simple I used the recipe for toll house chocolate chip cookies and just threw in some finely chopped chocolate mint that we picked at our farm share. I had been keeping the mint in a vase on the windowsill and some started to root. I hope I can keep it going and get it in the garden next year!
